The Cardinal Hill Dive Team is a member of the Northern Virginia Swim League-Diving (NVSL-D), which is comprised of eight divisions and approximately 40 pools.
This summer the Cardinal Hill Dive Team is in Division III. We need new divers as well as all of last year’s divers to meet the challenge of Division III this year.
The purpose of the Dive Team is to promote the sport of diving and for all participants to have fun. The Dive Team welcomes all levels of divers from the beginner to the expert. The program is structured to serve the needs of all team members. No experience is required; all interested divers are wanted and welcome welcomed to come to the team practices beginning May 31st(weather permitting).
The coaches may recommend lessons to some divers. Only the divers that can do all of the required dives for their age group will participate in the Tuesday night meets. For children under 10, the required dives are a front dive, a back dive, and an optional dive such as a forward somersault or an inward dive. Those children who do not have the required dives will be able to participate in the Crackerjack meet and at least one B meet.
All interested boys and girls please complete the registration form found on the registration link to the left.
All dependents of Cardinal Hill Swim and Racquet Club members or lessees, 18 and under and who and who are no further removed from high school than spring graduation are invited to join the dive team. Diving is divided into age groups for both boys and girls. Age as of June 1st is the deciding factor for each group. The age groups and number of dives required at meets are:
- Freshman - 10 and under: 3 dives - (forward dive, backward dive, and one optional dive)
- Juniors - 11 and 12: 4 dives - (forward dive, backward dive, and two optional dives)
- Intermediate - 13 and 14: 5 dives - (forward dive, backward dive, and three optional dives)
- Seniors - 15 to 18: 6 dives - (forward dive, backward dive, inward dive, and three optional dives)
In each dive meet, the top three scores in each age group count as official scores and count toward the final meet standings. Up to 32 total divers may dive in any meet.
Team Information
Information during the season will be communicated via email and some information will be posted on the Dive Team bulletin board in the cabana area. We also distribute important information and awards in the Dive Team folders located in the Dive Team Drawers next to the CH front desk. The dive team handbook will be emailed out by June 4th. The handbook will include detailed information on the dive team, the meets, etc. The coaches will also be available to answer questions.
