Perhaps one of the largest challenges we face at Cardinal Hill is with our aging facility. Our facility is over 40 years old and requires more time and money each year to maintain and operate. At the conclusion of a lengthy, well-attended, spirited and productive Annual Meeting on January 30, 2008, the Club Membership approved a resolution authorizing the Board of Directors to commence with this much needed renovation process.
Update - January 2009 - Fairfax County has approved our plans to renovate the clubhouse, tennis hut and snack bar and has issued us the necessary building permits which will allow us to begin the project in January.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $1.5 million, which is substantially less than earlier estimates. We have signed a contract with Hitt Construction. Because the cost of the overall project is lower than initially project, the cost per family also will be less. The per family assessment will be $2,500, payable by Jan. 31, 2010.
The Board has approved the following payment options:
- One time payment of $2500 due January 31, 2010
- Annual payment of $590 per year for five years. Payment to begin on January 31, 2010, subsequent payments will be due in the Fall with the annual dues. This amount includes the bank finance charges to Cardinal Hill.
- All payments that are not postmarked by January 31, 2010 will incur a $40 late fee.
All payments, excluding finance charges under the club’s program, are fully refundable when a member leaves the club and his membership is sold. In addition to the above financing options, Cardinal Bank, which is financing the construction project, has agreed to provide a competitive rate to Cardinal Hill members who wish to finance the assessment with the bank.
