Tennis Director

The Tennis Committee is excited to announce that we have contracted Doug Kaut as our tennis director at Cardinal Hill. This is Doug's seventh year with Cardinal Hill tennis. A professional level certified teaching pro since 1988, Kaut, brings over 25 years of experience in running programs for all ages and ability levels. His experience also includes coaching and traveling with nationally ranked junior players as well as professional level players. Doug has recently been certified by the Modern Tennis Methodology Coaching Academy (MTMCA) USA as an MTM Tennis Professional for excellence in tennis coaching. 

Doug will be assisted by Robin Crider and Riley King as Asst. Pros.

Robin, a Cardinal Hill member, has played professionally and coached collegiately and privately for over 25 years. Currently she teaches year round at Regency Sport and Health, and coaches the Marshall HS Girls Tennis Team in the spring. This is Robin's fourth year teaching at Cardinal Hill.

Riley has been playing tennis since the age of 5 and has played high level tennis in the juniors, high-school, and for a time at Old Dominion University. He has been teaching tennis to students at various levels for a period of 4 years.

Clinics & Lessons

Clinics for adults and juniors of all ages and ability are currently available. Private, semi-private, group, adult drill sessions, and complete spring and summer tennis programs are also available.

ADULT PROGRAMS

Cardinal Hill will offer a variety of programs for all levels of play, including a club championship for both, men and women, round robins and socials. We have a very active adult tennis program ahead, so please come out and support these new and exciting events.

Adult Socials - Fridays Evenings (April - July)

Come join us for a fun evening of tennis and socializing. Play some round robin doubles and bring your favorite beverage and snacks to share. No partner required. Please sign up at the Tennis Front Desk. All dates are Fridays from 6:30-8:30:

Tennis Rules

Copies of the Tennis Rules are available at the Tennis House. Please familiarize yourself with them, as it is not possible to cover every subject in this newsletter. The tennis managers have the authority to enforce the rules and are expected to do so.

Tennis Managers

Tennis court managers will assist the pros, schedule lessons and court reservations, and help keep our tennis operations running smoothly. The court manager is here to assist you in any way to make your playing time enjoyable. These managers will be on duty from (8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.) seven days a week, starting on Memorial Day Weekend. Please check-in for your court assignments before playing.

Guest Fees

During the summer season guest fees will be charged for tennis. During pool hours, pay for your guests at the front desk only when checking in. At other times, contact the tennis manager.

Court Reservations

Courts may be reserved using our online Court Reservation System.

Court 1 is the pros instructional court.

Courts 2-7 may be reserved during the daylight hours 1-1/2 hours for singles and 2 hours for doubles.

Lighted Courts

Courts 2, 3, 6 and 7 are lighted and may be reserved for 1-hour periods starting at 8:00 p.m. AT 10:00 p.m. THE LIGHTS ARE SET TO GO OFF AUTOMATICALLY. No guests are allowed to play on these lighted courts and juniors may play only with an adult member. The length of play on a lighted court must be limited to 1 hour when others are waiting to use that particular court. Juniors are requested to conclude their play on lighted courts if senior members are waiting to play unless accompanied by a playing senior member. After your reserved time is finished you are still welcome to continue play if the court is available.

Junior Players

A junior player (one who has not reached his 16th birthday) is entitled to use the courts on weekdays before 5:00 p.m. and can reserve a court for 1 hour from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays on the same basis as senior members. Members arriving for play for a court that is in use should contact the court manager. Junior players are not allowed to play on a court or be in the tennis area after 9:00 p.m., unless accompanied by an adult and playing on the same court. Junior players unaccompanied will be requested to vacate the premises at 9:00 p.m.
